If this group is to do anything, we need to be able to vote.
I propose the following system.
1. Anyone interested in calling a vote starts 2 topics.
topic one: DISCUSS <issue name>
topic two: VOTE: <issue name>
In the discuss topic, the person introduces the concept and then discussion ensues.
In the vote topic there should be no discussion, just voting. The options are: YES / NO / ABSTAIN. The first post to the vote topic should be a clear statement of the issue to be voted on. The vote caller should not vote in the first post.
The reason for no discussion in the vote topic is to keep it easy to count the votes. If your post to the vote topic contains anything other than a single word indicating your vote, then it will be ignored. That sounds a bit harsh, but the goal is to keep it very, very simple to count votes. There should be no room for things like "I said all this stuff, but I meant yes." etc. If you have something to say, do it in the discuss topic.
This means all votes are public. I think that's a good thing.
